What a weekend!

The very first Lobster & Lambie Festival on the islands of Carriacou and Petite Martinique, off the coast of Grenada, delivered far more than anyone expected. From January 16–18, the Grenada Tourism Authority transformed the sister islands into the ultimate cultural and culinary playground, attracting not only locals, but visitors from neighboring St. Vincent and as far away as Europe.

For three glorious days, the islands became the backdrop for nonstop music, incredible food, community spirit, and unforgettable vibes, with the Caribbean Sea always in view.

The beauty of the festival was its effortless energy. It invited everyone to simply come as they were. Some arrived dressed for a full festival experience, others wandered in straight from the beach in swimsuits and sandals. Families, food lovers, partygoers, and curious first-timers all found their place. There truly was something for everyone, even the kids.

Day 1: Community Vibes in Carriacou

The festival kicked off Friday night at the Fish Market in Carriacou with what felt like a true community celebration. Many locals came out curious about what this inaugural event would actually bring. By the end of the night, curiosity had turned into full-on enjoyment.

People danced, sang along to the music, and embraced the atmosphere as the night unfolded.

Despite having only two food vendors on opening night, the response was overwhelming, food sold out early, proving just how eager people were to support the event.

Entertainment came courtesy of Lady B, Mr. Gold’N, and the Carriacou Culture Train String Band, whose performances set the tone for the weekend ahead.

Day 2: Petite Martinique On Another Level

Saturday’s events on San Chez beach in Petite Martinique took the festival to another level.

From the moment visitors stepped off the dock, the excitement was impossible to miss. Music echoed across the water while colorful tents lined the shore in the distance. A short walk along the waterfront led directly into the heart of the festival grounds, where a lively bar scene and five bustling food vendors awaited hungry guests.

Lobster, lambie, fish dishes, and local specialties filled the air with mouthwatering aromas while visitors moved from tent to tent sampling everything they could.

The entertainment lineup kept the energy high all night long with performances by Flex, Menti, 2 Blaxx, Shortpree, and Terra D Governor.

Festivalgoers also joined in on interactive games and competitions, from beer-drinking contests for the adults to water-balloon toss games that kept the children entertained.

Adding to the excitement, contestants for the highly anticipated 2026 Miss Carriacou and Miss Petite Martinique Carnival Queen Show were introduced to the crowd. Chair of the Queen Show Committee, Shania Chase, also addressed attendees briefly as anticipation for carnival season continued to build.

Day 3: Paradise Beach Delivered the Perfect Finale

If anyone thought the festival would slow down by Sunday, they were mistaken.

Day three returned to Carriacou, this time on the breathtaking Paradise Beach (voted Best Caribbean Beach in 2022). With crystal-clear waters, powdery white sand, local cuisine, and stunning views of Sandy Island, the setting alone felt like an event of its own.

The food offerings on the final day were almost overwhelming, in the best possible way.

Visitors, myself included, wanted to taste everything.

From seafood soup and steamed snapper to juicy grilled lobster, roasted potatoes, lobster mac and cheese, lamb soup, and homemade juices, every vendor brought bold island flavor to the table. Long lines formed throughout the afternoon as guests patiently waited for their next plate.

One of the most talked-about moments came when Mr. Grill arrived with an entourage and his famous jerk lobster, teasing the eager crowd just a little longer before finally serving up one of the day’s must-try dishes.

The closing day entertainment lineup featured Young Chodi, Chello, Sakinah and the Alpha 1 Band, Super Flying Flint, Slatta, Mr. Gold’N, and Dred Lion.

Dred Lion’s electrifying closing performance, paired with a fireworks display over the sea, was the perfect ending to an unforgettable first edition of the Lobster & Lambie Festival.

If this inaugural year was any indication, the Lobster & Lambie Festival has officially secured its place as one of Grenada’s must-experience events, and a grand show of Caribbean excellence!
